Enjoying Fall in Madrid :)

Saturday night:
I am REALLY starting to like this “walk everywhere” lifestyle. My friend Abby and I met up with a couple people on Saturday night around midnight (approx distance walked= 1-1.5 miles). We went to a few bars and had a really good time (approx distance walked = 1.5 miles). At about 4 Abby and I decide to call it a night and head home. Thus far we have not had any income so we pick and choose what to be cheap about, tonight’s choice= taxi…
Three miles later and basically sober at this point, I made it back to my apartment.
One night of drinking =
4 beers and two mixed drinks.
3 bars.
Approximately 6 miles walked...
Not too bad if I do say so myself. No wonder everyone is so skinny here!
I made it home in time for a Skype session with Joshua, and finally went to bed at 6 AM.
Woke up at 2pm the next day feelin’ like a champ.

Sunday:
It was absolutely beautiful out so Becca and I decided to go to Retiro Park- we watched a HILARIOUS street performer, I wish I would have had a video camera! Then we sat and read in the sun, I think I got a little color!
We walked to Abby’s apartment to get some much needed McDonalds ice-cream. One thing that Spain does not mess around with, McFlurry’s > they put chocolate syrup in them!! Someone needs to send the memo to America! After that we had a relaxing night and watched a movie (Sliding Doors).

Monday:
My day off… (Are you starting to understand why I like Spain so much??)
I went to the bank and opened a bank account! FINALLY. After that I went to the store with my roommate Rosa and bought a sketch book and some markers and colored pencils J
Nothing too exciting, but relaxing nonetheless> I had quite the busy week with Mammasita, so it was nice!

Tuesday:
I started work at 11 (haha) with my 4th grade class- I got to take a group of students out to the hall to work on a poster we had started last week about endangered animals. It was looking rather dull, so I told them we needed to add some “oomph” (hand-gestures included). They started coloring little borders around some of the pictures, being a little timid with the markers and pastels. I took the initiative and went ahead and made a HUGE spiral-swerving-colorful design and within seconds these kids went nuts with the colors! Stars/trees/animals/swirls/shapes/COLOR/scribbles/you name it, it was on this poster. It was perfect J
After I got home from work I sat in our apartment (that gets zero natural light) for a little while, it was feeling a little like midnight so I ventured up to the street to get a little sunlight. I walked to Retiro and let myself get lost in the park, so many areas I had not seen yet. I took some pictures and then found a perfect spot in the garden; I sat there for about a little over an hour testing out my new sketch book and pencils…  I made it home a couple hours later and decided to catch up on my blog.

And don’t worry, I have to be at work by 9 am tomorrow- this isn’t all a vacation
Besos,
Kelley
